Did their 1 hour lock experience and it was just wonderful. would most definitely try one of their longer experiences,... a really friendly crew, full of local information and history. couldn't ask for a better way to spend a few hours, even the Irish weather doesn't impact the day with both indoor and outdoor viewing areas. The crew are very friendly and informative also they are very good with children which is important. Our family went... on a 3 hour tour yesterday, the weather was lovely, naturally enough firstly when on the boat , our life jackets were put on us and the rules explained. Although there are tea, coffee facilities, an oven for heating up nibbles,'soft drinks and plates of biscuits provided we had brought some of our own but we used the kettle a lot and soft drinks. Well done and thankyou to you allxxx the scenery was beautiful as we went along and soft music also and the crew explained about the swans and their young. On our way home if you wanted a family photo taken they were very willing to oblige. we all ( the family) enjoyed the trip so much we definitely shall be touring again soon. Thankyou allxxxread more

There's something about the water and inner peace. Hand yourself over to the pace of the trip, imagine back when the... waterways were the highways of of the world and one good horse moving easily with 60 ton. The engineering of lock gates, the power of the water.The music of the water going over the wiers and Mr Heron sitting there waiting for the next meal. I can't recommend this enough. Five of us went for something different to do and it was a lovely day. We were greeted... with biscuits and grapes and were made feel really welcome. The lads are really laid back and interesting and told us all about the history of the waterways and the different areas we passed. They have a fantastic knowledge of the wildlife and we saw buzzards and kingfishers!!The boat itself is so relaxing, we had tea and sandwiches and a few beers so were well happy!! We did the 5 hour journey which was perfect and seemed to fly by. Def something I would do again. Very relaxing and interestingread more

We had a family outing - 12 of us, including two little boys aged three and one and a half. We took the one hour tour... as thought the Three hour one may be too long for the boys. It was a fantastic trip and the three men on board made us feel very comfortable. They served us with tea/coffee, biscuits and sweets, much to the delight of the children. We all wore life jackets which was a great idea. The men were great with the children and explained everything about 'the lock' to us. All in all it was a great experience and a memorable one. I didnt actually go on this tour BUT spoke with a couple of members of the crew as we prepared to set off on a canoe... tour of the Barrow .They were extremely pleasant and helpful and volunteered advice without having to be asked. Obviously have a great knowledge of the river and canal. i didnt get their names but really lovely guys, As i say, I didnt go on the Tour but the crew were really nice so Im sure they wll make it a very pleasant experience -Thanks for the help guys.read more
